Yoga may improve condition of scoliosis patients

Individuals with scoliosis may improve their condition by simply doing one yoga pose for more than a minute every day, an article on Medical News Today stated October 12.

Researchers from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York studied the effect of yoga in patients with idiopathic scoliosis between ages 14-85. Participants were initially instructed to do “side plank” on their weak side every day for 10 to 20 seconds in their first week, and were later instructed to practice the pose for longer durations. Most participants reportedly had a spine improvement rate of 32 percent after doing the pose every day for more than six months. Though some saw improvements after posing for only three days a week and others saw a curvature improvement of nearly 50 percent.

Scoliosis unfortunately is one of the congenital defects linked to fetal exposure to Depakote. If you believe this has happened to your loved one, you may be entitled to remunerations in order to recover medical expenses.
