Treating Tetralogy of Fallot through surgery

Tetralogy of Fallot, which is a birth defect that affects the heart and is caused by poor oxygen levels in the blood, can be treated through a series of surgery.

Usually, the first surgery is done in the first 28 days after a baby is born, while the final surgery is conducted in the 6th month of life. The main objective of the surgery is to normalize the oxygen levels by closing the ventricular septal defect using a tube graft to allow the blood flow from the left ventricle to the aorta. In other cases, a follow up surgery is required if the tube graft is thought to cause damage to the coronary artery of the baby.

Our lawyers at Williams Hart help mothers whose children were born with Tetralogy of Fallot as a result of using Depakote during pregnancy to get much-needed financial compensation and justice. If you think your child was born with this or another birth defect due to this dangerous medication, call 800-761-3187 to discuss your options.
