What is Craniostenosis?

Recently, women have come forward and said that the use of the prescription drug, Depakote, while pregnant has caused their children to develop birth defects. Many birth defects are associated with the use of the drug including one called, craniostenosis.

Craniostenosis is when normal head growth can not happen because of a synostosis of the cranial brain occurs. This means that the bony plates that are behind the skull are fused too early in life.

After birth, the bony plates are not to fuse together so that the brain can further develop after birth. Therefore, children with this condition will probably develop at a slower rate than other children their age because their brain is growing at a slower rate.

If your child has developed this condition after you were described depakote, contact the birth defect from Depakote lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187.
