Ventricular septal defect named a defect associated with Depakote

Ventricular septal defect is a disorder that occurs when there is one or more holes in the wall that separates the left and right ventricle of the heart. This is the most common heart birth defects.

This birth defect occurs when the fetus is forming. As the fetus grows, the wall between the two ventricles begins to form. If the wall does not form completely, there are holes left in the wall.

The baby may not have any symptoms and the hole can sometimes grow after birth, but if the hole is too large the baby can have heart failure. Other common symptoms may include shortness of breathe, paleness, failure to gain weight and hard breathing.

Recently, women have come forward claiming that being prescribed Depakote, an anti-convulsion medication, while pregnant caused their babies to suffer from birth defects. If this has happened to you, contact the Depakote birth defects lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187 today.
